Taking place at G Live in Guildford on Saturday 5th July Surrey Dance Partnership is delighted to be presenting a day long festival of free workshops and community and professional dance performances.

The free workshops, which are open to all regardless of age or ability, will run every hour from 1oam- 5pm in the G Live foyer and will include family storytelling, Street Dance, Line Dancing, and Bollywood Dancing.  Culminating in a Tea Dance, run by Surrey Swing at 4pm the programme of free workshops guarantees to offer entertainment and fun whether you are a participant or an audience member.

For family audiences there will be a performance of a new commission Grass and two performances of Bombastics Mr Magik’s House.  Combing dance, comedy and animation, this performance tells the story of an old magician remembering his glory days and dreaming of a magical world to come.   This charming performance promises to be a real treat for young people aged 6 and above.

Throughout the day there will be free performances by local community groups and Surrey Dance Collective artists will be sharing their new work as a treasure hunt through G Live and Stopgap Dance Company a Surrey based international recognised integrated dance company will be performing their current piece The Awakening in the G Live amphitheatre.

The festival finale is an evening Gala Performance celebrating dance and its many forms and will bring together professional dance artists with Surrey schools and community performers.  The evening will include performancess by Temujin Gill’s (NHS section of the opening of the Olympic Games) company Grounded who will perform their unique style of dance influenced by African, Tap, Lindy Hop and Hip Hop.  There will also be performances by Tavaziva Dance and Sonia Sabri.

1pm - Creative Seated Dance workshop with Anna Pearce.  This will be a creative, props based workshop, involving both improvisation and taught sequences. Participants will have the chance to put their own style stamp on the movement created, and interact with new faces in new ways!

1.45pm - Performance by Surrey Boys Dance Company.

2pm - Street Dance workshop with Carly Allen.  Come and learn the latest and freshest street dance moves whilst learning and working on the foundations of the original styles such as breaking, waving and popping. Come and join Carly for a fantastic workshop.  www.vitalsignzdance.co.uk
